The Mejlis of Turkmenistan Continues to Improve the Country's Legislative Framework

On October 2, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a Cabinet of Ministers meeting via the digital system, at which the results of the work carried out in the country over the first nine months of this year were summed up.

The first to speak was Chairperson of the Mejlis D. Gulmanova, who reported on the results of the national parliament's activities for January–September of this year.

As reported, during the period under review 8 legislative acts were adopted, including the Laws of Turkmenistan "On the Establishment of the Jubilee Medal of Turkmenistan 'Türkmenistanyň Garaşsyzlygynyň 35 ýyllygyna bagyşlanyp geçirilen dabaraly harby ýörişe gatnaşyja'" and "On the State Protection of Akhal-Teke Horses," as well as 14 Resolutions of the Mejlis. In addition, relevant amendments and supplements were made to existing laws concerning the protection of citizens' rights and legitimate interests, ensuring industrial safety of production facilities, improving accounting and financial reporting, licensing of certain types of activity, motor roads and road activity, environmental protection, preservation of aquatic biological resources, and increasing the effectiveness of migration policy.

Furthermore, the Mejlis received 7 letters of credence from Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of a number of countries accredited to Turkmenistan.

During the specified period, 37 meetings were held with representatives of parliaments of various states, foreign diplomatic missions in Turkmenistan and international organizations, during which prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation were discussed. Deputies and specialists of the Mejlis took part in 93 seminars organized by the relevant ministries and sectoral agencies of the country jointly with international structures. In order to exchange experience in lawmaking, representatives of the national parliament made 20 official trips abroad.

Summing up the information, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of the further development of the sovereign Fatherland and the modernization of the country's legal framework, placing emphasis on the need to improve the legislation of Turkmenistan.
