Investment Forum Opens in Ashgabat with participation of representatives of the UN, EU and International financial organizations

In the capital of Turkmenistan, the city of Ashgabat, the Investment Forum has begun its work. The forum is being held over two days, 1–2 October.

The forum opened with a plenary session titled «Investment activity — a key Factor in dynamic and sustainable economic development». The session was moderated by the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, Xiaojun Grace Wang.

The forum programme includes eight thematic panel sessions. They are devoted to the development of the oil, gas and chemical industries, the diversification of export routes and sales markets, the electric power sector and the transition to renewable energy sources, as well as the development of the industrial and construction complex. Separate sessions cover transport, logistics and communications infrastructure, including the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, sustainable trade, e-commerce and public-private partnership.

Other topics include agribusiness and climate-resilient agriculture, economic diversification and cooperation with international financial institutions, the regulation of virtual assets and mining technologies, as well as digital transformation, artificial intelligence and the «green» transition. On the second day of the forum, an event titled «Legal Regulation of Investment» will be held in parallel format. It will discuss the legal framework for investment in Turkmenistan, the regulation of strategic sectors, mediation and international arbitration.

According to the programme, the forum will conclude with a final session summing up the results.
