Rashid Meredov Reports on the Results of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Work for January–September 2026

On October 2, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a Cabinet of Ministers meeting via the digital system, at which the results of the work carried out in the country over the first nine months of this year were summed up.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov reported on the results of the work carried out by the country's foreign policy agency in January–September of this year.

It was noted that during the specified period the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took concrete steps to implement the foreign policy of the President of Turkmenistan and to fulfill the tasks of expanding bilateral and multilateral relations of our permanently neutral Fatherland with foreign states and authoritative organizations.

As is known, a special role in the development of international cooperation is assigned to visits and meetings at the highest level. In this regard, it was reported that over the nine months of this year, visits were organized for National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Hero-Arkadag to the United States of America, China, Austria, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, Iran, Afghanistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

During the specified period, the President of Turkmenistan made visits to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and the Republic of Korea.

One of the key aspects of our country's foreign policy strategy is strengthening interaction with authoritative international organizations. In this regard, it was reported that as part of the visit of Hero-Arkadag to the Republic of Austria, meetings were held with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and a Deputy Secretary-General of the UN.

In addition, during the period under review, the following visited our country: the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN; the Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia; the Vice President and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, which holds the chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe; and the Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Within the framework of Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the CIS in 2026, meetings of various councils and commissions, as well as other meetings and events, are being held. In this regard, on May 22 in the capital, a meeting of the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States took place.

During the period under review, a total of 608 foreign delegations visited our country through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and 1,011 delegations were sent abroad from Turkmenistan.

In January–September of this year, 355 meetings of various levels were held via the digital system. Also, during the specified period, 1,682 official negotiations and meetings were organized in Turkmenistan with foreign states and international organizations.

Strengthening the treaty and legal framework of international relations is also among the important tasks. Since the beginning of the year, 187 international documents have been concluded.

As reported, the relevant work is being carried out with the aim of holding political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country and the foreign policy agencies of other states. During the specified period, political consultations were held between the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the heads of the foreign policy agencies of Austria, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, China, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Seychelles, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Japan, as well as with the US Secretary of State and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

In addition, in January–September 2026, consultations were held with the foreign policy agencies of India, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Russian Federation, Germany, Zimbabwe, Azerbaijan, Uganda, the Republic of Korea, Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Kingdom of Cambodia, Ukraine, Türkiye, New Zealand, Indonesia, Japan and Bangladesh.

Furthermore, during the period under review, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held talks with the UN Secretary-General, the President of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, and the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization.

As reported, one of the important vectors of the foreign policy activity of the neutral Fatherland is the development of diplomatic relations through the embassies of foreign countries. In January–September 2026, letters of credence were received from newly appointed ambassadors to Turkmenistan of the Republic of Chad, Indonesia, Italy, the Republic of Korea, Argentina, the Arab Republic of Egypt, Finland, Kenya, Algeria, Germany, Türkiye and France, of the European Union, as well as from the UN Resident Coordinator in our country.

In addition, letters of credence were presented by the ambassadors of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Thailand, the United States of America, Ireland and the Republic of Maldives, as well as the Permanent Representatives of Turkmenistan to the UN and to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, who officially assumed their duties.

Summing up the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of further consistently strengthening interaction with the states of the world in the trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, and scientific and educational spheres, as well as with authoritative international organizations. In this context, the head of Turkmenistan instructed the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs to properly prepare for holding at a high level the international events and forums planned before the end of the year, and for the holiday of neutrality of our independent state.
