Growth indicators ensured in Turkmenistan’s trade sector over nine months of the year

On October 2, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via a digital system. During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerkuly Atagulyyev presented a report on the results of work carried out from January to September this year in the areas under his supervision, including trade, textile industry, production and entrepreneurship, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

During the reporting period, the growth rate of trade turnover of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations reached 113.2 percent compared with the same period of the previous year. Textile industry enterprises maintained stable growth in production indicators. Compared with the corresponding period last year, the production growth rate amounted to 106.4 percent. In particular, the output of cotton yarn reached 102.3 percent, cotton fabrics — 100.9 percent, garments and knitwear — 102.6 percent, and leather products — 100.5 percent.

At the enterprises of the state association “Türkmenhaly”, the growth rate of total profit amounted to 107.6 percent. From January to September, 222 exchange trading sessions were held at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan, resulting in the registration of 23,460 contracts.

During the reporting period, the growth rate of activities carried out by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan reached 107.3 percent. A total of 18 exhibitions and 10 conferences were organized during this period. Members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan achieved growth rates of 110.4 percent in agricultural and food production and 109.2 percent in industrial production.

After hearing the report, esteemed President emphasized the importance of effectively utilizing the production capacities of the trade sector and maintaining continuous control over the supply of domestic markets and retail outlets with food products and other essential goods. The Head of State instructed to continue efforts aimed at modernizing textile enterprises and increasing production efficiency.
