On July 28, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit. During the meeting, the two sides discussed key vectors of long-term financial, economic, and investment partnership. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».

The Head of State and the head of the EBRD examined prospects for cooperation in the fields of energy, transport, the "green" economy, digitalization, and the rational use of water resources. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the country's interest in attracting investment to diversify the national economy, support entrepreneurship, and develop the North–South and East–West international transport corridors.

On the same day, the head of the EBRD held talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, following which a substantial package of bilateral documents was signed.
