On June 17, the first session of the Turkmen-Slovak Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation began its work in Ashgabat. A delegation headed by a Deputy Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic Vladimir Shimoniak arrived in the country to participate in it. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».
During the session, participants discussed the current state of bilateral trade and economic relations, as well as prospects for cooperation in various sectors of the economy and trade. The importance of exploring opportunities for the implementation of joint projects that would contribute to expanding interaction and further strengthening economic and investment partnership between economic entities of both countries was also noted.
This was followed by working and bilateral meetings attended by members of the Commission, heads and representatives of ministries and agencies of the country.
Issues relating to the development of bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic and fuel-energy sectors, in the fields of construction, transport, communications and information technology, agriculture, environmental protection, healthcare and medical science, education, culture, sports and tourism were discussed.
The cultural program of the Slovak guests' visit to Ashgabat included acquaintance with the sights of the capital, including a visit to a «Watan mukaddesligi» Museum at a «Halk hakydasy» Memorial Complex.
