From June 10 to 12, a working visit to Japan took place by a delegation of Turkmenistan headed by a Chairman of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan Ata Serdarov. This was reported by a press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the visit, meetings were held with a Vice-President of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan Taro Aso, a Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan Shunichi Suzuki, a Chairman of the Japan-Turkmenistan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Shinpei Matsushita, and a Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Arfiya Eri.
Special attention was paid to the development of inter-parliamentary ties. An exchange of views also took place on the expansion of interaction between the political parties of the two states. In this regard, the advisability of establishing direct cooperation between the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan and the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, as well as the creation of an appropriate mechanism for party interaction, was noted.
The parties considered specific proposals aimed at further strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, including the holding of the Parliamentary Forum of the "Central Asia + Japan" Dialogue in Ashgabat in 2027, the development of interaction between women parliamentarians, and the expansion of trade and economic ties.
Following the meetings held, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in the further development and deepening of multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan.
