A delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan is taking part in the 64th session of the Subsidiary Bodies of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC SB64), being held in the city of Bonn (Federal Republic of Germany) from June 8 to 18, 2026. This was reported by a press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the forum sessions, the delegation of Turkmenistan presented the country's national position on climate change issues, and also informed participants about the work being carried out to implement obligations under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement.
In its statement, the Turkmen side emphasized Turkmenistan's commitment to international efforts to counter climate change, including measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency, introduce environmentally clean technologies and develop renewable energy sources. It was noted that the preparation of an updated nationally determined contribution (NDC 3.0) is currently being completed in cooperation with the UN Development Programme.
Special attention was paid to Turkmenistan's regional initiatives in the climate sphere, including the establishment in Ashgabat of the Regional Center for Climate Technologies for Central Asia. The delegation informed forum participants about the progress of preparatory work for the launch of the Center and expressed readiness for further development of cooperation with states of the region, international organizations and relevant UN structures.
