A President of Turkmenistan expanded the diplomatic powers of the country's Ambassador to India

On June 10, a President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree appointing the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of India (New Delhi) Shalar Geldinazarov simultaneously as the head of the country's diplomatic mission to the Republic of Maldives. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».

It is worth noting that diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Maldives were established on September 25, 1992.
