On May 22, a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Ashgabat. Delegations from CIS member states arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the meeting. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».
By instruction of a President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister Hojamyrat Geldimyradov.
At the event, a Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev presented information on the agenda and procedural arrangements. After the agenda was approved, participants exchanged views on key areas of cooperation, particularly the prospects for mutually beneficial trade and economic partnership.
It was noted that there is significant potential to expand cooperation across various economic sectors and increase and diversify mutual trade.
Turkmenistan places special emphasis on strengthening cooperation and developing long-term, forward-looking partnerships in this area.
The country also pays great attention to developing transport, communications, logistics, and infrastructure potential among CIS states.
Energy cooperation, including energy supply, power infrastructure, energy-efficient technologies, and renewable energy projects, was also highlighted as an important area.
The meeting continued in expanded format. Discussions focused on strengthening economic cooperation, improving transport connectivity, introducing digital technologies, and developing new mechanisms of industrial cooperation.
Cooperation in congress and exhibition activities and digital transformation of industrial sectors was also discussed.
Turkmenistan supported the decision to declare Minsk (2027) and Karaganda (2028) as CIS Youth Capitals.
The meeting concluded with the signing of final documents.
