On May 22, a President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Sergey Lebedev, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), who arrived in the country to participate in the upcoming meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».

As the Head of State emphasized, Turkmenistan is responsibly fulfilling its role as CIS Chair. A clear confirmation of this is the successful implementation of Turkmenistan’s 2026 CIS Chairmanship Concept, which includes a wide range of important events carried out in a planned and timely manner.

In this context, the Head of State paid special attention to the upcoming meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, scheduled for October 9 on the Caspian coast, noting that it will be one of the key events of the year. The summit is expected to consider proposals aimed at giving new momentum to cooperation and strengthening trust-based partnership across the Commonwealth.

During the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed sincere gratitude to all members of the CIS Executive Committee and personally to the Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev for their professional approach to organizing effective cooperation.
