Turkmenistan participates in the 72nd Session of the UN Commission on Tourism for Europe

A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Berdimyrat Rejepov, an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Federal Republic of Germany and Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations, is participating in the 72nd Session of the UN Commission on Tourism for Europe, which is being held from 12 to 14 May 2026 in St. Julian's, Malta. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The agenda includes discussions on the global vision and regional approach to tourism, the activities of UN Tourism, the implementation of the 2025–2026 work programme for Europe, and interactions with the organization's affiliated members.

Special attention is being paid to preparations for the International Year of Sustainable and Viable Tourism 2027, the further development of international cooperation in tourism, and the current challenges facing the global tourism industry.

Turkmenistan, an active member of the international community, has established fruitful cooperation with the UN Tourism Secretariat, aimed at developing the country's tourism potential. Boasting unique natural attractions, a rich cultural and historical heritage, modern architecture, and innovative technologies, Turkmenistan is consistently expanding opportunities for developing its national tourism industry and strengthening international partnerships in the sector.
