At the off-site meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on May 8 under the leadership of Honorable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the results of the socio-economic development of Balkan velayat for the first four months of this year were discussed. Vice-Premier Hojamyrat Geldimyradow reported on the indicators achieved in the region. This was reported by the "Turkmenistan: Golden Age" online newspaper.
During the reporting period, the volume of industrial production in Balkan velayat increased by 6.6 percent compared to the same period last year. Stable growth was recorded in the fields of oil extraction, processing, electricity generation, and iodine production. In particular, the 2.1-fold increase in mineral fertilizer production and the 11 percent increase in cotton yarn production demonstrate the consistent strengthening of the region's industrial potential.
Positive results were also achieved in ensuring food abundance. In the velayat, flour production increased by 52.5 percent, vegetable production by 1.5 times, and egg production by 25.8 percent. Furthermore, growth rates were maintained in the production of dairy, meat, and bakery products, confectionery, and the volume of fish caught. High indicators in freight and passenger turnover were also recorded in the trade and transport sectors.
The work carried out in the financial and budgetary sphere confirmed the economic stability of the region. In January–April, the revenue plan for the local budget was fulfilled by 101 percent, while the revenue plan for bank branches was fulfilled by 136.6 percent. Additionally, within the framework of the National Village Program, the construction of social and cultural facilities continues at a high pace.
After listening to the report, the Head of State noted the necessity of fully utilizing the region's economic potential and systematically improving the living standards of the population. The Honorable President stated that planned investment projects must be implemented qualitatively and within the specified timeframes, and instructed to keep this work under strict control.
