New Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Elected with the Participation of Turkmen Deputies

The elections for the new Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) were held in Istanbul, Türkiye, as part of the 152nd Assembly of this international organization. A delegation from the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took an active part in the process. The press service of the country's national Parliament reported this.

As noted, the abilities and experience of the candidates were highly evaluated during an open and fair voting process. As a result, with the full and direct participation of all attendees confirmed, Ms. Anda Cristina Filip, the candidate nominated by Romania, was elected to the post of Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

"The participation of the delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan in these elections is another testament to our country's active involvement in democratic and legislative processes at the international level," the report emphasizes.
