Turkmenistan adopts concept for the development of the intellectual property system until 2052
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hodzhamyrat Geldimyradov reported at a government meeting on March 27 regarding the preparation of the draft "Concept for the Development of the Intellectual Property System in Turkmenistan for 2026–2052." As reported, the Concept provides for the improvement of the legislative framework in this area, taking into account international standards and national interests. At the same time, measures are being taken to stimulate innovative activity and creativity, develop innovative and youth entrepreneurship, and introduce intellectual property objects and results into production. Furthermore, a series of practical steps are planned aimed at increasing the effectiveness of mechanisms for protecting intellectual property rights, enhancing the professionalism and experience of national experts and specialists in this field, and introducing digital services. After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of further developing the country's intellectual property system based on international experience. By signing the Decree aimed at improving activities in this sector, the Head of State instructed the Vice-Premier to carry out the necessary work in this direction. According to the Decree signed by the esteemed President, the "Concept for the Development of the Intellectual Property System of Turkmenistan for 2026–2052" and the Plan of Measures for its implementation for 2026–2030 were approved. In accordance with the document, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, relevant ministries, and sectoral departments were instructed to ensure the implementation of the measures provided for in the concept and plan.
