The next meeting of the Strategic Advisory Council “Turkmenistan – United Nations” will be held on March 31
At the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held via a digital system on March 27, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Strategic Advisory Council “Turkmenistan – United Nations,” which will take place in the country on March 31. Rashid Meredov presented the agenda of the fifth meeting of the Strategic Advisory Council. It was noted that the meeting will consider preparations for Turkmenistan’s third Voluntary National Review on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition, it is proposed to discuss, jointly with UN specialized agencies, draft cooperation programs on methane emission reduction and in the field of youth policy. At the state level, special attention is paid to youth policy in Turkmenistan. In particular, the Strategy for International Cooperation of the Youth of Turkmenistan for 2023–2030 has been adopted, and the State Program on the State Youth Policy for 2021–2025 is being successfully implemented. Moreover, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the Central Asian Youth Dialogue has been established, aimed at promoting such areas as “Youth, Peace and Security” on the international agenda. In this context, the meeting of the Strategic Advisory Council is scheduled to discuss the draft Program “Youth, Peace and Security” for 2026–2028. This document will serve as a solid foundation for supporting young people and ensuring their active participation in regional and international events. The development of this Program in cooperation with the United Nations is currently at its final stage. At the initiative of the Hero-Arkadag, in 2015 a Framework Agreement was signed between the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on the establishment of the “Turkmenistan – UNESCO” trust fund. In addition, it is proposed to sign documents prepared in cooperation with UN agencies and duly agreed upon. In this regard, a number of documents for 2026 have been prepared and preliminarily coordinated. Having heard the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that relations between the independent Homeland and the United Nations are developing consistently. Approving the proposals to hold the meeting of the Strategic Advisory Council “Turkmenistan – United Nations,” the Head of State gave relevant instructions to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
