On March 26, a conference in Ashgabat focused on inter-parliamentary dialogue to promote gender equality and strengthen its legislative foundations. The forum brought together leaders of the Mejlis, representatives of relevant ministries and sectoral agencies, as well as prominent international organizations, foreign delegations, and media representatives. Speeches highlighted Turkmenistan’s ongoing efforts to consistently fulfill its international commitments regarding women’s rights and gender equality, as well as the provisions of relevant international conventions. It was emphasized that strengthening and improving the legislative framework for all aspects of gender equality remains a pressing task of modern times. During the conference, participants discussed expanding activities in this area, including modernizing national mechanisms for the protection of women’s rights and enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation.
